Yce (Philippines) (2009/11/13): I bought this book because I was looking for books that were similar to Anne Bishop's writing style. I did not know just how similar to Anne Bishop's writing style it was going to get. Lucinda Darkly reads like a crossover between Anne Bishop's the Dark Jewels and Laurell K. Hamilton's Meredith Gentry. And though Lucinda definitely READS better than Mona Lisa with less issues and different baggage all together, I still feel that it was over all choppy.
And though I have tried to look objectively at this story, not actively trying to say that it is a rip-off, I have opened both Meredith Gentry and this book and found scenes so appallingly close together, with wording just twisted a bit that I honestly do not know what to believe. So I honestly tell everyone who is ever planning to read Sunny's work to a) read the book then go ahead and read b) Meredith Gentry and then FINALLY read c) The Dark Jewel's Trilogy and decide for yourself.
