Bonnie (USA: IA) (2011/05/28): The author goes back and forth between the time when the crime happened (and the subsequent investigation), and the last-minute appeal by the convicted. But it's clearly mentioned at the beginning of each chapter, so there's no confusion. The character development is excellent, as you see some characters in both time periods. The author seamlessly shifts between the younger versions and the older versions of these characters, revealing changes in motivations & thought processes. Very well written.
