benjabroni (USA: NC) (2007/08/19): Incredible let down, as a true crime fan one of the things I look for is books with pictures of the described crimes in, not a gore freak but crime scene photos add a lot to the depth of a true crime story.
This has some interesting pictures but for the most part it's really tame and boring. It starts basically at the turn of the 20th century and goes through major crimes up until 9/11 and has a picture and a short (one page) description of the picture and the story behind it. There are really only a handful that can be considered "crime scene photos" w/ the most glaring (and probably bloodiest) picture being of a dead Nicole Brown Simpson. Missing are a lot of serial murderers although there's a chapter focusing on serial killers.
There's a reason why Borders stores bargain bins are overflowing with this one.
